My Pregnancy Journey

Hello! It’s been so so long since I came on here. Life has just been so busy with the little one. I’ve been meaning to document a little bit of my pregnancy journey though – as a supportive reference for my soon-to-be-preggie friends and even to compare one day if we do have another baby.

How I find out I was pregnant?

So I felt a few symptoms before I actually decided to take a pregnancy test:
– feeling SO tired (I fell asleep during work which never happens)
– dizzy feeling whenever getting up or doing anything fast
– lost of appetite (this is CRAZY odd!)
– sore breasts
– late period

In the past I’ve had late periods before so it was not a big indicator for me. I had told Jon about the symptoms but had said we would wait another week before I take a test. On April 18th, I took the test and when it came out positive I was pretty shocked (but happy). We had been trying for a while and every time I’d take a test it would come out negative so this was the first time seeing the 2 lines (positive indicator). So apparently at this time I was already 7 weeks pregnant 🙂

1st Trimester
During the first trimester, I experienced really bad nausea. To the point where I cannot even look at foodie pics on Instagram. I was on a hiatus for a while on IG. However, I think only a few times I vomitted. Nosebleeds also occurred often. COVID this year actually helped me hide my pregnancy symptoms though – even though I was running to the bathroom in between meetings, i cannot imagine having to do that at the office. I only informed my team when i was already 20 weeks.
Since there were restrictions in place, no gatherings were allowed so there was no need for me to make up excuses to not go to any parties or reasons of why I was not drinking. 🙂
Due to my nausea I actually lost weight (5 lbs).
My back started aching quite alot near the end of the 1st trimester, even though i hardly had a noticeable bump. There was one night i was up for most of the night crying because i was so uncomfortable. After that Jon had purchased a massager and a pregnancy pillow for me. 🙂
As for my hormones, definitely felt way more sensitive, but I think i held it well, only had maybe 2 crying episodes (probably Jon cut my vegetables the wrong way lol)

2nd Trimester
My appetite has come back! Hurray! This trimester is the best one yet. I’m feeling great, can eat alot and have a cute little bump. Its to the point that people know I am pregnant (and not fat haha). One of the oddest things about this time is having nostalgic dreams. There would be people from my past popping up in my dreams, people Ive met in high school, or in elementary school who are no longer in my life.
By week 19, I felt my baby kick for the first time! Its like a lump moving in your tummy.
At the end of the 2nd trimester I felt the Round Ligament Pain for the first time. We were walking alot that day and i felt big cramps throughout, by the time I got home i was in so much pain I through up and could not get up from the floor. I had to take pain killers and a hot water bottle which helped me sleep through it.
At 20 weeks, we went in for a detailed scan. The doctor said it was MAYBE a girl! Until the end of 2nd trimester, I had migraines on and off. The worse was the back aches in which I started to go to physio.

3rd Trimester
The lower back pain continues and started to get pulled muscles quite alot when I’m sleeping. It is seriously such a painful feeling, as if someone has shot me in the calf (I’d imagine).
During this trimester, I felt alot of baby kicks, and alot of baby hiccups (its like popcorn popping!) The baby moves quite alot and sometimes your belly just looks like something is going to tear through. lol

By week 34 I was already off work which really helped ease my back pain. I stopped physio and have concluded my backpain was due to me sitting at my desk for 7+ hours straight. During the next few weeks i started to wake up alot during the night to go pee and i was extremely hungry. I developed a pattern in which Id drink a glass of milk and eat a pastry or banana and watch the sunrise. I think this really was the culprit of why I gained so much weight (50+ lbs).
At 38 weeks my feet started to swell a bit, but i was still out and about going to dinners with the hubby.
At week 39, still pregnant and felt my bump had drastically lowered. Its to the point i feel i have to carry my bump or it will drop out lol.
At 40 weeks pregnant, I started to feel a bit uncomfortable to walk. At the next appointment, the doctor suggested I get induced the next day. I cried in her office at the idea that I would be having the baby SO SOON. I think the doctor had thought I wanted to wait for natural delivery instead of induction so she said she’d give a few more days.
