Italian Theme Night | Jannah Burj Al Sarab

The Dining Room, Jannah Burj Al Sarab, Abu Dhabi, UAE

The Dining Room at Jannah Hotel transformed into a night in Italy as guests enjoyed an evening of Eclectic Italian Flavors. Every Tuesday, Jannah hotel holds a theme night for their guests for only AED 99 pp which includes unlimited buffet of starters, a selection of mains from the kitchen, assortment of desserts and unlimited soft drinks.

The Dining Room is located next to their lobby of the hotel. At times during the dinner, I forgot we were sitting in the foyer area and only a partition was separating us from the lobby guests. They had a large projector at the front of the room to set the atmosphere and music.

Starters and Sides by the Bar

There was a large selection of starters, breads, cheese, antipasti. This included caprese salad, tomato and basil salad, mixed Italian house salad, bruschetta, mozzarella sticks, roasted tomato and mascarpone soup, panfried eggplant, zucchini stuffed with ricotta, cheesy pollenta, ,mushroom orzo, mushroom risotto, pan fried asparagus and mashed potatoes. There were ample options at the buffet table. For my favorite picks, I really enjoyed the risotto. Sometimes its quite difficult to cook risotto perfectly but this dish was really surprised me there.

Mains from the Kitchen

My friend and I were able to pick as many mains we wanted from their set menu. The options were pizza, chicken Milanese, linguine with basil and pine nuts, beef lasagna and osso buco. My friend opted for the chicken Milanese while I picked both the lasagna and the osso buco. We originally wanted to order a side of linguine but this was actually already available at the buffet table for self-serve. My friend’s chicken Milanese was mediocre, she mentioned it was not too dry but the portion on top looked a bit burnt. I enjoyed my dishes very much, the lasagna was rich, creamy and quite cheesy, which is perfect! It was my first time having the Osso Buco, I did not know what to expect but the beef was so tender and soft, fall off the bone. The vegetables served as a stew sauce on it which actually complemented the dish very well. I will definitely order Osso Buco again.

Desserts

The desserts was the best part of the meal. We tried all the desserts available on their menu– tiramisu, panna cotta, chocolate fondue, sorbet trio. I thought the tiramisu had too much cream in it, but it was beautifully layered and presented in the jar. I was satisfied with the panna cotta and it was in a perfect 2 bite portion size. For the sorbet trio, it was actually ice cream and not sorbet, so it did not come according to my expectations. Also the chocolate fondue was actually a chocolate fondant. The Lava fondant cake was really rich and it gushed out of the cake as expected. Paired with vanilla ice cream, my friend and I devoured this in no time.
