Let’s Go | Andiamo!

Andiamo! Grand Hyatt, Dubai, UAE

Atmosphere

My husband and I arrived to Grand Hyatt for an afternoon lunch at Andiamo. If you haven’t been to Grand Hyatt Dubai, it is one of the most luxurious and magnificent hotels in Dubai. No wonder its called “Grand” Hyatt. As we entered through the lobby, we immediately tried to look for a map or signs to the restaurants. The foyer is transformed into a large garden/rainforest with small rivers and bridges, it’s a spectacular you need to see for yourself! (Andiamo! – translating to Let’s go! in Italian)

Andiamo has ample seating indoors and outdoors. Several large parties were seated inside right by their live pizza station. We opted to sit outdoors to take advantage of the nice weather while it lasts. There is a large bar area and ample lounge seating. I would imagine the night festivities here would be quite popular.

Dot was invited to Andiamo! for a restaurant review.
Although the meal was complimentary, all opinions and photos are of her own.

Menu

The menu was presented on a large clipboard, the first page consisting of all types of alcoholic drinks. I was surprised there as no mocktail menu. We asked our server to start with a mocktail and a pint of Hoegarden. He asked if I wanted a fruity or citrus mocktail, which then I replied a fruity one.  I would love to see a mocktail menu in the future, I ended up with a citrus one- lemon/mango drink which I did not entirely love.  On the other side of the clipboard menu has antipasti, salads, soups, pizzas, pastas and meats. They also have a vegetarian section too!

Starters

We decided to start with the Salmone Affumicato (85dhs) – which is smoked salmon slices and mixed lettuce marinated with citrus and olive oil. It was a refreshing choice for us, especially with the hot weather. For the salad, we opted for the Avocado salad (40dhs). One of the best salads by far, it had an unique touch to it as they added in orange wedges and had the splash or orange reduction dressing. We loved it!

Mains

My hubby ordered the Milanese Vitello (135dhs) – breaded veal with grilled onion and tomato sauce, while I chose the Spaghetti All’astice (170dhs) – live rock lobster spaghetti. As we ordered this, the server mentioned the veal came in a huge portion. We expected it to come in several racks, however, it was really only 1 rack. The portion was not enough for 1 person, I’d recommend to order it with sides. He enjoyed the Milanese veal, perfectly breaded and the grilled onion tomato sauce complemented it very well. He,of course, devoured his meal and much of mine as well.  My lobster spaghetti was so scrumptious! The lobster was so fresh, I haven’t had a decent lobster meal in a long time. The spaghetti was made splendidly as well, it was infused with the juice of the lobster which made every bite delectable.

Desserts

Unfortunately, there is no dessert menu at Andiamo, however, there are desert options upon request. Our server recited a half dozen desserts. I am sure these change weekly according to what is available. We opted for the Tiramisu and a vanilla ice cream. I would love to see some sorbets available for the hot summer ahead! The tiramisu was very creamy and not too sweet. I love the self-serve cocoa powder it came with on the side.
