Vakava, Pan Latin Experience at Etihad Towers

Authentic pisco sours, lively latin tunes and a beautiful ambience overlooking the blue waters is what you can expect in a visit to Vakava at Etihad Towers. Vakava is fairly new to the Abu Dhabi restaurant scene, with its opening in the Summer of 2019. It took the place of it’s sister restaurant, Toro Toro, where guests will be greeted by two white bulls marking the beginning of a delicious pan-latin dining experience.
My husband and I went to visit this beautiful establishment on a lovely Thursday evening. Their beautiful décor lines their foyer and guides you towards their extravagant bar – where some of the most interesting (and delicious) concoctions are made. Try their Vakava exclusives such as the sierra no540 or their bourbon named The Truth.

For a cold appetizer, try their famous smoked guacamole or smoked swordfish. You wont go wrong with picking one or a few of their ceviches – for me I loved their Tuna Nikkei. For warm apps, my husband didn’t want to leave until trying the Soft Shell Crab Tacos. Smoked paprika aioli, avocado, capsicum and lemon make a delicious combination with soft shell crab.

Moving on to the mains, I opted for a delicious and beautiful cut of Waygu 8 Grade Rib Eye. It came on top a stone still sizzling on the grill right to the table, cooked to my liking, rare. Beautiful presentation indeed. My husband had the Chilean Sea bass and it was one of the most flavourful dishes we had. So many Chilean spices, it really kicked out tastebuds up a knotch. With the Japanese rice, this dish was super filling as well.

Luckily I still left a tiny bit of room left for dessert! I asked for a recommendation from the server which was… La Bomba. It was quite a show. The servers came to the table with a small trolley to prepare the dessert. Interesting enough, the dessert was prepared right on the table with a Chocolate Ball Smash. Inside revealed little tidbits of mousse, cake, fudge, and berries! It was a the perfect dessert to end the night ta Vakava for us.

Vakava certainly has an extensive menu with so many exotic dishes to try. We definitely will have to be back for another great date night. I also heard they have a beautiful 2nd floor lounge too! Cheers! Dot
