Brunch in a World Record Structure | Hyatt Capital Gate

18 Degrees Restaurant,  Hyatt Capital Gate, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Did you know Hyatt Capital Gate holds the Guinness record for furthest manmade leaning tower in the world? It was our first time visiting this remarkable structure last weekend while indulging in their splendid Friday brunch at their 18 Degrees Restaurant complete with stunning panoramic views of Abu Dhabi. Read on further for my detailed experience and photos of the Hyatt Brunch.

Welcome

Our arrival at Hyatt brunch was really like no other. Immediately upon arrival at their 18th floor, we were whisked away to their Lounge where we enjoyed the breathtaking views of Abu Dhabi from up in the sky while sipping on a few welcome drinks. At the bar, the bartender was quick to recommend a beverage which can suit your preference. I found this lounge setting to be especially lovely as I was waiting on a few friends to arrive before we were seated.

At exactly 1:00pm sharp, the doors to the brunch were opened and we were welcomed immediately by the hosts who greeted us and brought us to our table. The room was flooded with natural light accompanied with light background music which brought together the ambiance of the brunch. We knew were in for a huge treat as we quickly scanned through all the Mediterranean appetizers and the huge long table full of desserts – my favorite!

We sat right beside the bar which was so convenient for us to get refills and cocktail recommendations. The feature that day was the aperitif spritz which was refreshing and light to the taste. With the house package, we enjoyed beers, wines and cocktails all through the brunch. Prosecco was my drink of choice – I love to celebrate.

Appetizers

There was a whole array of appetizers to start with. My table had enjoyed plates and plates of them in which I had to remind them of the numerous mains we still had yet to try. I really enjoyed their fresh ceviche, their shrimp cocktails and of course their oysters. The oysters were placed on a cart and came directly to our table – oyster table service taste even better!

Mains

We were presented with a menu in which we were able to pick and choose the items a la carte. I love this concept of combining the buffet apps with a la carte mains. I find it to be the best combination for brunch. I especially love a la carte because of the presentation of the dishes. Chef Stephan was working with his team in the open kitchen and you could see each dish as it is made and plated. We found all 8 dishes to be of great quality and even asked for a second round of them. The mains included in the brunch were: marinated jasmine tea salmon, fregola soup, mascarpone spaghetti, duck leg confit, crab cake, seared scallops, spicy prawns, and Florentine steak.

Along with the mains menu, there was also a section for made to order breakfast items. My friend had enjoyed orders of waffles and crepes – they smelled so good! This is what I truly call a brunch – enjoying both breakfast and lunch together!

Desserts

The customizable freak-shake at their dessert station totally blew me away. I never had such a large milk shake before stacked with so many items – waffles, chocolate, cake, gummy bears & more! This was truly Instagram-worthy! After the shake, I still indulged in a lot of their dessert items like such as the pies and chocolate cake. They even had ice cream and sorbet too!

Cheese Room

The brunch did not just end there. Did you know there is a secret cheese room?! I won’t tell you where it is but you will have to open your nose and smell your way there! It is loaded with dozens of different cheeses, I enjoyed mine paired with port wine.

Recommendation

This brunch definitely has the best view and quite a nice appeal to it as it is in a Guinness world record structure. I love the concept of both a buffet & a la carte. The made to order a la carte options make the brunch a bit more luxurious and I would love to see them refine these items which can bring the wow-factor.  I would recommend this place to take your guests to for exceptional wining and dining.
